One Fighting Championship III: War of the Lions

Eduard Folayang (URCC Champion, 3x SEA Games Gold Medalist) will be going against a fellow Filipino, Ole Laursen (K-1 Veteran) this March 31, 2012 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. This has got to be the most anticipated MMA bout for the Filipinos this year.

One FC III Trailer

Eduard Folayang vs Ole Laursen Clip

This bout was supposed to take place last September 2011 but Ole had to withdraw from the competition due to an injury.

I had the privilege to meet Ole last January 2012 in URCC Cebu where he cornered for Brazilian Wadson Teixera who fought and lost to Eduard Folayang. Backstage, he mentioned that he opened a gym at Boracay and now lives and trains there. This is in contrast to Eduard who trains in high altitude Baguio.

Here's a video of Folayang vs Teixera taken by a fan at URCC Cebu:

One FC III: War of the Lions will be Ole's comeback bout after his loss to Felipe Enemoto.
Here's the full fight:

Whatever the outcome of the Laursen vs Folayang bout, I'm glad that Philippine MMA is now world-class.

Chael Sonnen Apologizes to Anderson Silva

"Anderson, over the last several months, I've disparaged your name in an attempt to garner respect and attention for my own. That was wrong and I apologize. My actions were unsportsmanlike, they were uncalled for. Though they weren't mean-spirited, I do regret them. As you know, I've recently become the number one contender, which is a position that respectfully and immediately I am resigning from. I wish no further confrontation with you in the Octagon or through the media. In short, I surrender.

Signed,
Chael P. Sonnen ..."

Check this out as Wanderlei Silva gets on Chael's face in defense of Brazil and the Nogueira brothers. Chael surprisingly yielded and kept silent.

3:52 - 5:12

Here's another interesting video of Chael in an interview with Michael Landsberg at Off The Record which airs on TSN (Canada). Watch as Chael goes on a tirade and walks out of the show. Apparently, he went back to the show at a different date and finished the interview.

Strikeforce: Miesha Tate vs Ronda Rousey

Armbar slow mo at different angles at 7:03 - 8:35
This is so far the BEST and the NASTIEST armbar I've ever seen!

"I had X-Rays last night," Tate told MMAFighting.com via text message. "No bones are broken, which I already knew. Other than that, I have to get an MRI to find out anything further."

This is an unusual incident in the MMA industry. I hope it doesn't slow down the acceptance of MMA as a sport to mainstream.

Tinguinha Seminar Update

This is a late post, it's been almost a month since the Tinguinha visited our gym.

After years of being off the mat, the drills and techniques he taught us brought back my open guard movement and flexibility. He updated us with new ways on how to control the spider and sitting-up guard-- very enlightening.

Hope I get to train more so the years I dedicated to train and fight won't go to waste. Of course, also to bring me back to shape and to stay healthy.

Here's our team picture with Tinguinha.
